La n\u00e9cropole du Pontil se trouve sur la commune de Bize-Minervois dans le d\u00e9partement de l\u2019Aude, \u00e0 environ 20 km au nord-ouest de Narbonne. Elle a \u00e9t\u00e9 fouill\u00e9e en 2010, dans le cadre d\u2019une op\u00e9ration arch\u00e9ologique pr\u00e9ventive. Quinze s\u00e9pultures ont \u00e9t\u00e9 mises au jour. Elles se pr\u00e9sentent sous la forme d\u2019une fosse de plan circulaire et de profil tronconique, d\u2019une profondeur variant en fonction de l\u2019\u00e9tat de conservation de la structure. Quelques unes ont conserv\u00e9 leur dispositif de signalisation (amas de blocs de pierre) et\/ou leur dalle de couverture, en position effondr\u00e9e dans la fosse s\u00e9pulcrale. Leur comblement est constitu\u00e9 d\u2019un d\u00e9p\u00f4t de r\u00e9cipients en c\u00e9ramique non tourn\u00e9e accompagnant l\u2019ossuaire, qui contient les restes br\u00fbl\u00e9s du d\u00e9funt et ses objets personnels. Des reliquats de combustion du b\u00fbcher peuvent aussi \u00eatre dispers\u00e9s au-dessus de l\u2019ouverture de la fosse. Parmi les r\u00e9cipients, on souligne la pr\u00e9sence de vases inspir\u00e9s de formes ph\u00e9nico-puniques et de vases \u00e0 d\u00e9cor excis\u00e9. Des vestiges fauniques compl\u00e8tent parfois le d\u00e9p\u00f4t. Cette d\u00e9couverte pr\u00e9sente toutes les caract\u00e9ristiques des s\u00e9pultures \u00e0 cr\u00e9mation du premier \u00e2ge du Fer ouest languedocien. L\u2019\u00e9tude du mobilier c\u00e9ramique et m\u00e9tallique, qui est relativement abondant, bien conserv\u00e9 et chronologiquement homog\u00e8ne, permet une attribution au dernier tiers du VIIe s. av. n. \u00e8. Ce lot, qui combine dans certaines tombes vaisselle de luxe et assemblage m\u00e9tallique atypique, voire prestigieux, confirme par ailleurs les dynamiques sociales mises en \u00e9vidence dans les ensembles contemporains. Plus largement, c\u2019est la premi\u00e8re fois qu\u2019une n\u00e9cropole de cette phase est d\u00e9couverte dans la proche p\u00e9riph\u00e9rie de Mailhac et le site du Pontil permet une fois de plus d\u2019appuyer l\u2019id\u00e9e que ce secteur du Minervois est une zone drainant des richesses, bien int\u00e9gr\u00e9e dans les premiers r\u00e9seaux d\u2019\u00e9changes avec la M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e antique.
\nThe necropolis of the \u2018Pontil\u2019 site is located in Bize-Minervois, in the Aude area, some 20 kms north of Narbonne. It has been excavated in 2010, during a campaign of rescue archaeology. Fifteen burials have been unearthed. They have a circular shape on plan, with a profil similar to a truncated cone. Their depth varies according to the degree of the conservation. Some have conserved the above ground markings (pile of rocks) and\/or the covering stone, trapped within their backfilling. The deposit is constituted by hand-made potteries surrounding the ossuary, in which can be found the burnt remains and the personnel effects of the buried. Some residues from the pyre can also have been scattered from the opening of the pit. Amongst the pots, some have been identified as inspired by Phoenician-Punic models, other have incised decorations. At times, animal remains have been added to the deposit. This discovery has all the characteristics of the early Iron Age cremations, from the west Languedoc. The studies concerning the pottery and the fairly numerous metal objects, well conserved and chronological homogenous, give a dating from the last third of the VIIe century BC. This collection, which combines in some tombs luxurious wares and unusual gathering of metal objects, some being very glamorous, confirms the social dynamics, revealed by contemporaneous collections. It is also the first time a necropolis from this particular time has been found in the vicinity of Malhaic, and the archaeological site of the \u2018Pontil\u2019 bring another evidence proving the Minervois area is attracting wealth, and is an active component of the first exchange network with the Mediterranean milieus.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
